A systematic review and meta-analysis of 7 recent randomized trials involving 329 patients treated with chemotherapy or radiation therapy. Photobiomodulation is associated with a reduced risk of oral mucositis, although treatment protocols varied widely from one study to another.

A systematic review and meta-analysis of 12 studies involving patients with fractures. Photobiomodulation reduces pain at one week (SMD -0.74) and improves grip strength at four weeks, with no demonstrated effect on bone healing.

An umbrella review of 30 systematic reviews (156 publications) and 11 recent trials. The most rigorous data show a reduction in pain in the short term and an increase in mouth opening, using wavelengths ranging from 810 to 1,100 nm over a period of more than four weeks.

Bayesian network meta-analysis comparing pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions for Alzheimer’s disease. Photobiomodulation ranks first in terms of cognitive function (SMD 0.66; SUCRA 87.3%), ahead of pharmacological treatment (SMD 0.36).

A systematic review of 6 clinical studies on Hashimoto’s thyroiditis. Photobiomodulation is associated with a decrease in thyroid autoantibodies and a reduction in levothyroxine requirements, although the evidence base remains very limited.

Systematic review and meta-analysis of 30 randomized trials (1,748 patients). Photobiomodulation reduces the risk of severe mucositis (RR 0.46) and severe oral pain (RR 0.35) by more than half, while improving salivary flow.

Systematic review and meta-analysis of 9 randomized trials (312 patients). Photobiomodulation reduces arm volume (SMD -0.78) and circumference (-3.61 cm) while improving grip strength, with moderate GRADE certainty.

Systematic review and meta-analysis of 28 randomized trials (3,573 children). At 12 months, repeated red light treatment improved the spherical equivalent by 0.68 D and reduced axial length by 0.30 mm, with a dose-dependent effect.

A systematic review of 130 studies (6,879 participants) on chronic orofacial pain. The most pronounced analgesic effect was observed with photobiomodulation for short-term burning mouth syndrome (SMD -0.81, moderate certainty).

Systematic review and meta-analysis of 9 studies (387 patients). Photobiomodulation significantly reduces pain associated with trigeminal neuralgia (SMR = −2.17), but heterogeneity among studies remains very high.

A systematic review of 14 randomized trials on photobiomodulation for chronic pain. Most trials reported a reduction in pain; however, a meta-analysis was not possible due to the heterogeneity of the protocols.
